The Orange Democratic Movement party officials from Nyamira County have been put on task to ensure the Jubilee Alliance Party does not penetrate the region that has traditionally supported Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Party’s county chairman James Gesami has tasked officials from the youth wing, women league and mainstream to work hard and lock out the Jubilee Alliance from penetrating the region.
Speaking to this reporter on Wednesday, Gesami said among the activities to be done by the three groups include registration of new members, sensitising locals on voter registration and national ID application alongside educating them on the party’s manifesto.
“All officials must be alert or quit their respective positions. We cannot just sit and allow Jubilee to penetrate our strongholds yet we have resources to make the region an ODM zone,” said the West Mugirango MP.
“The officials must now be ready to sensitise people to register as voters, apply for national identification card for eligible youths and also educate people on our manifesto. We also want all of them to recruit as many members as possible,” he said.
Gesami warned officials who may be tempted to work with the Jubilee government and insisted that his office will not delay in de-whipping officials going against the party’s constitution.
“Officials must at all cost defend the party because we want to produce more elected members in 2017. We have a strategy in doing all that and whoever may not be willing to work, he or she is at liberty of bowing out before we catch up with them,” he said.
