Gesami reportedly told residents that he would retire from active politics if he secured his second term as area MP.

Aspiring area MP Steve Mogaka on Tuesday challenged Gesami, who has since declared his third term bid to retire honourably or face humiliation in the ballot.

“I want to challenge Gesami no avoid being hypocritical. He approached a number of us in 2013 and pleaded top get a second term which he got,” Mogaka said.

“It is time for him to retire honourably to avoid humiliation in 2017 polls. Leaders should always honour their promises if they want to avoid humiliation. He said that he won’t contest for the third time but here he is marshaling for support ahead of 2017,” he said.

Mogaka, also a renowned constitutional lawyer reckoned that the MP had lost ground given his alleged inability to manage CDF funds well causing uproar from area residents.

“Many people have always raised their concerns about mismanagement of CDF kitty. Our MP should respect his advanced age and give young people a chance to lead. More importantly, he should honour his 2013 promise if he wants peace in 2017,” he said.

Mr. Gesami was recently elected ODM Nyamira branch Chairperson and declared his interest in the seat which he tussled away from former powerful Minister Henry Obwocha in 2007.
