West Mugirango MP James Gesami believes he will win Orange Democratic Party gubernatorial nominations ahead of 2017 elections due to his ‘remarkable’ development record.

The two-term ODM MP who also doubles as party’s Nyamira County Chair is poised to have a stiff challenge from incumbent John Nyagarama and are likely to share a platform today(Friday) when opposition leader Raila Odinga visits the county.

On Thursday, in a telephone interview, Gesami said he was the ideal candidate for the party given his enormous contributions since its formation in 2006.

“I am one of the founding members of the party and I have always worked hard to ensure we thrive. This is my party and the tremendous achievement both as MP and active party member will enable me wins the party nominations easily,” he said.

“I am the ideal candidate given that my opponents have been having issues with Nyamira people. I am clean and I know my remarkable record as MP will enhance me get nominated. I am loyal to the party and my confidence is that party members will stand with me,” he added.

He defended his loyalty to the party dismissing claims that the party has been having serious issues with him on the matter of remittances of monthly subscriptions.

“I normally pay my membership contributions without strain every month and I have done that for the last nine years. Those tarnishing my name are enemies of progress and should be dismissed,” he added.
