A Nyamira MCA has accused a number of his opponents of sabotaging development in Gesima ward following a personal donation of 150 bags of cement to three primary schools in the region.

Speaking on Wednesday at Ritibo trading centre, Ken Atuti accused his opponents of questioning his support to the institutions, terming them ‘unfocused and merchants of anti-development’ besides urging them to support the day’s leaders.

He said any leader was free to make personal donations within the ward and urged disgruntled opposition members to take an initiative by suing him in court.

“I am very disappointed that some of our leaders are pessimists when it comes in development. Every citizen has a right to make personal donations that can help our institutions or people. It is improper for some people to go around accusing me of looting public property,” he said.

He called for collective leadership and announced his willingness to work with opposition leaders in the ward to spur development for the sake of residents.

“As politicians, we cannot continue wrangling every time. I am very flexible and I call upon all members of the opposition to join hands with me and work for our people,” he added.

On Monday, leading aspirants, led by Charles Mokaya and Julious Nyachieo called for his prosecution after donating 150 bags of cements to Nyaronge, Ritibo and Riakworo primary schools.
