Pupils of Nyaronge Primary School in Nyamira County will in weeks’ time be operating in well-refurbished classrooms after area MCA donated Sh200,000 for the project.
Speaking on Saturday at Nyaronge region, Gesima Ward MCA Ken Atuti said that the school had been ignored since independence due to controversies surrounding its boundaries constituency wise.
Atuti asked his Chepilat counterpart Alfayo Mwongeresa to also support the institution for the sake of improving educational standards besides motivating teachers in the area.
He asked the leadership of Kitutu Masaba and Borabu Constituency to sit down and discuss the fate of the institution due to its boundary and administration crisis.
“I have donated the money and I hereby order immediate renovation of the institution. I want to see a new roof so that our children can learn without fear of collapsing structures,” said Atuti.
He added, “I know the complication and dilemma surrounding the institution, but I still urge all leaders including Alfayo and the two area MPs Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba) and Ben Momanyi (Borabu) to work faster and fix the problem.”
The institution is physically in Borabu Constituency and administratively in Gesima Ward, Kitutu Masaba Constituency, something that brings controversy during CDF allocations from both constituencies, but MCA Atuti believes the situation can be rectified.
“I accept that administrative wise, the institution is in Masaba and physically in Borabu, but that is a solvable issue,” added Atuti.
