Pupils of Ritibo primary school in Nyamira have a reason to smile after the area MCA donated 40 bags of cement that are meant to refurbish floors of various classes.
This comes amidst claims that many pupils were battling jiggers in the institution due to poor sanitation and hygienic conditions.
But on Monday, Gesima MCA Ken Atuti donated cement to the institution and ordered immediate renovation of classes which were in a dire need of repair.
“I am currently trying to reach institutions which are in dire need of renovation and that are why I came here today. We want to see our children learn in a good environment so that they can concentrate on their studies,” he said.
Mr Atuti called for immediate arrest and prosecution of school board members who allegedly embezzled Sh70,000 on grounds that they acquired a title deed for the institution which remains a mystery till today.
“There are some people from the board who are associating me with embezzlement of Sh70,000 for the title deed. I want to repeat that the title deed I promised will be out soon and no one was supposed to pay anything. They should be apprehended and subjected to court to answer to fraud charges,” he said.
School deputy head James Tai lauded the MCA for the donation and urged him to extend to other institutions across the ward.
“I sincerely thank you for the effort and we hope you will extend the same to other institutions. This is a commendable job and that is the way to go,” he said.
