Hours after a group of angry residents from Magombo area planted bananas in the road connecting Tombe and Keroka to protest the poor state of the road, a group of politicians from Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba have condemned the incident.
Speaking on Thursday at Iranya during a funeral ceremony, the leaders were unanimous that the incident was choreographed by senior politicians who oppose Kitutu Masaba legislator Timothy Bosire.
They asked locals who witnessed the incident to report the names of the youths who executed the exercise for legal action.
“It is so sad that our youths can be used by desperate politicians to taint the name of the area MP. They have ashamed us by going to an extent of portraying our name badly in the country,” said former councillor Osebe Mosigisi.
“Let us face the facts here and stop politics of witch hunt. We all know that the road is under supervision of the national government and the MP’s role is to always remind the government and contractors of their obligation which he has done,” said MCA Ken Atuti.
They pleaded with the youths to engage themselves in profitable activities and shun politicians, who wanted to use them as a tool for political wars.
