Speaking on Monday during a prize-giving ceremony at Nyamotenenio primary, they accused education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi of personalising education sector that should belong to the public.

They vowed to oppose the proposal and demanded that the CS apologises to parents and pupils for bringing ‘dictatorship’ to the celebrated department in the country.

“Education system in the country is not a personal property to an individual. It entails collective decision making by all stakeholders and therefore, it is improper for the learned professor to take other relevant entities for granted,” said chairman James Bosire of Kebuko primary.

“As school heads from this region, we demand that the CS apologises to the parents and pupils for coming up with dictatorial policies that are outdated. He must be held accountable for setting precedence for dismal education standards,” said Peter Monubi.

They said early morning prep enabled teachers to catch up in terms of finishing syllabuses since the normal class time is not enough to impart knowledge to pupils.

“The funny thing here is that teachers are coming for preps without even asking for a cent in a bid to finish their syllabuses in time, but someone wants to jeopardise their efforts. This is unacceptable and the proposal must be dropped,” said Josephine Temu.
