Parents, teachers and pupils of Nyaronge primary school in Kitutu Masaba will meet every Friday to assess progress made in terms of education, the institution’s school head has said.
Speaking on Monday after a parents/teachers meeting, Mrs Josephine Nyang’ena said the move will not only enable teachers and students assess their performance but also contribute towards improving the relationship between the three parties.
According to her, the pupils will be subjected to a monthly test and the best performing pupils will have a chance get presents in a bid to motivate them for better performances.
“I want to be very clear that every Friday we will be meeting as parents, teachers and pupils to assess our performance. This is very crucial because it will give us a clear direction on where we are going. Students will sit for monthly exams that will be sponsored by parents,” she said.
Mrs Nyang’ena said the conferences will also enable teachers to outline some of the difficulties they encounter when imparting knowledge so that it will be easier for the management and parents to know how they can help.
“This will also be a clear avenue for our teachers to table some of the issues they encounter when teaching. Therefore, the management and parents will be able to identify areas that should be improved,” she added.
The resolution was endorsed by a section of parents, led by Mrs Eunice Temu, who promised to rally the idea in the entire zone.
“This is a great resolution that we support as parents. In fact, the entire Gesima zone should consume the idea. We want to expose our children to constant tests so that we can improve performance,” she said.
