Speaking on Sunday at Nyabuya Primary school, Mr. Maroko Mokaya who is also an aspiring MCA said the program will see students concentrating in their academics rather than using a lot of time in search for lunch.

Mr. Maroko donated several Maize bags to all 18 schools in the region and asked parents to support the initiative for the purpose of supporting education.

“Feeding programme is essential in our schools and time has come for us to bring it back home. It is unfortunate that our children have to travel home every lunch time just for food. This makes them lose concentration and the vice is evident in national exams,” he said.

“I have donated at least two bags of maize to every primary school in this ward and I want to promise that I will sustain the exercise. Therefore, it is important that our parents support the initiative,” he said.

However, the move has not been received well by a section of parents who argued that the politician provide the source of heat that will be used in cooking.

“It is good that he will support the feeding initiative however, what he isn’t telling us is the source of heat. He must become clear on that to avoid problems in future,” said Jacob Masese.
