Needy students from Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba constituency have a reason to smile after a local politician said he is in his final stage of constituting a foundation that will be mandated to pay school fee for needy students.

Speaking on Tuesday at Gesima market after meeting with a section of youth leaders from the region, Charles Mokaya, who is aspiring to be MCA in the ward, said the move would see more than 1,000 needy children from the ward taking studies in various secondary schools and institutions of higher learning benefit.

“I am in the final process of registering Mokaya Foundation whose headquarters will be in Gesima trading centre. I thought it would be appropriate since if my people reach me at a designated place so that they can get help," he said.

Mr Mokaya appointed the Nyamira youth president to be in charge of the proposed foundation that is expected to be in operation by the start of August and promised to run it with transparency and integrity.

“Mr Justus Maeche will be in charge of the foundation. I will invite more youths to take charge and I believe they will serve everyone without discrimination,” he added.

He, however, cautioned his political foes against politicising the issue urging them to adopt same initiatives for the sake of development.

“Development is essential and it is not good for people to politicize such initiatives. We need more of such foundations and this is the right way to go,” he added.
