A number of politicians from Gesima ward in Kitutu Masaba constituency have agreed to desist from political rhetoric for the sake of development in the region.

This comes few weeks after political tension that was elicited by aspiring MCAs who accused the incumbent of discrimination of some sections in developmental issues.

But on Sunday, a number of politicians led by area MCA Ken Atuti and his challengers Charles Maroko, Jane Nyakang’o and Timothy Ogato agreed to work together as a team.

“I understand that we have been putting the MCA under pressure but we are ready as opposition to work closely and realise development for our people. Time will soon come for politics but for now, it is important to focus on pressing issues,” Mr Mokaya said.

Omaribo called for close collaboration but cautioned the incumbent against initiating projects without doing necessary public participation for approval.

“We are ready to engage in transformative politics but the MCA must also promise to embrace public participation. We need accountability and that is what is important. However, I support the need for us to work as a team,” he said.

On his part, Atuti lauded the opposition for its critical job of checks and balances but vowed to include all leaders in matters pertaining development.

“Today, I have seen a great moment for the people of Gesima and Nyamira at large. It is important that the opposition works with the leadership of the day not only in the county government but also at the national level,” he added.
