Kenya's Ambassador to UN-Habitat, Sam Ongeri, has urged Kisii County Government to be organised so that they can receive development funds from the United Nations (UN) for county development.
During an interview in Kisii town the ambassador said that counties just need proper plans to attract UN funding.
He urged counties to prioritize clean sanitation since it is the key to development.
“UN can fund various projects in the county if only they are beneficial to the residents. In the same note the county government must be accountable to the fund management,” said Ongeri adding that counties are lagging behind because of lack of proper plans.
Ongeri also added that poorly organized towns not only hinder growth but movement of goods and services.
He called on all leaders in Kisii to work together towards achieving their promises and in developing the county.
He also added that the county needs more funding, hence leaders should work together and show unity in development agendas.
