Speaking during a Thursday morning show on a local fm radio station, Duale appealed to his Garissa Township constituents not to vote on tribal lines but on competence records.

"I don't want my constituents to vote me based on tribal lines, I want them to track my development agenda since I was elected. I also encourage them to vote out incompetent leaders who never perform their duties well as expected of them," Duale stated.

His statements come at a time when tribal politics seem to be taking root in the county, with several clans proposing their elite individuals vie for elective posts.

Recently, Ali Bunow Korane was endorsed by his Abudwak clan, and is expected to battle out Governor Jama whose political career lies on the weighing scale.

Jama has received public criticism owing to his reluctance to fight corruption and allegations of nepotism in hiring county staff.
