Speaking to journalists at Kiambu town on Tuesday, Kabogo said that ghost workers will not be victimized but they will be sent off politely.

Kabogo added that the ghost workers will be immediately struck off the pay roll saying that a lot of money that could be channeled to development was being paid to ghost workers.

“I have instructed the county public service board to immediately struck off workers who failed to present themselves for the biometric registration,” said Kabogo.

Kabogo further observed that the county has been using most of its funds to pay workers salaries at the expense of development.

He said that cleaing of the pay roll will ensure that every worker is paid what he or she is supposed to be paid, adding that the county has been struggling to offer services because of the ballooning wage bill.

He further noted that his government will channel more money to fund development projects so that people can get better services.

The biometric registration exercise was launched two months ago by the Devolution and Planning Ministry, with the aim of cleaning the payroll and deal with ghost workers.

On Monday, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru said that at least 12000 civil servants, both at the national and county governments had not registered. She ordered that civil servants who failed to register be struck off form the pay roll immediately.
