The old woman who lost her husband over two decades ago says she has been leading a deplorable life of neglect ever since the death of the husband.

Angelina Shikokoti lives in Virhembe village, Isukha Central, Shinyalu Constituency.

After the death of her husband, she was left with an only daughter who is also languishing in poverty and cannot help the mother.

The house she lives in has a worn out roof that cannot shield her from adverse weather conditions.

"When it rains, the situation becomes even worse because it pours inside. I have to remain standing in one corner to avoid the rain," she says.

According to her, the insecurity is not just about the poor standards of her house.

At night, she says, she is faced with the risk of sex pests who come calling at her door, leaving her defenseless.

She has asked for help from well-wishers to build a house.
