A giant leafy baobab tree on Thursday crashed a laboratory in Maseno University.
The big tree came down following heavy winds and rain that have hit the area in the past weeks.
Three students were in the Lab when the incident happened, but were lucky to escape without any injury.
The Food and Nutrition Laboratory is situated next to the Equator hostel in Siriba.
Activities in the university were brought to stop as people made their way to witness the accident.
The incident caused uproar among a section of Maseno students, who urged the institution's administration to cut down all trees near tuition and residential areas to prevent further calamities.
"All trees near residential and tuition area should be cut down. They are risking lives of students," said Kevin Langat, a fourth-year student in the institution.
Another section of the students hailed the accident, saying it will prompt the institution to put up a modern laboratory.
"This laboratory was too old to be in Maseno University. At least they will have to build a more presentable laboratory," said Faustine Anyango.
