Parents from Riakemuma village,Giasaiga sub-location have been challenged to closely monitor their children during this April holiday,to ensure they do not engage in criminal activities that could ruin their lives.
Riakemuma village Nyumba Kumi chairman,Hezekiah Ogega Ocharo regreted that,majority of the parents in the area did not bother to monitor their children's whereabouts during holidays or after school,leaving them to temptations of crime,especially recruitment in to illegal groups without the parents knowledge.
Speaking in the village during a the SDA Church's home churches Sunday fellowship prayers at the home of Grace Onsare,the leader asked parents to be vigilant on their children's movements and the company they keep while at home to ensure do not fall prey to illegal groups.
"As church and community leaders we have a duty to ensure every parent becomes accountable on the whereabouts of their children,especially during hoildays and guard them against being recruited into illegal groups which threatenpeace and security in the country,"stated Ocharo
Ocharo also challenged local communities to take responsibility of all children in their midst,to ensure they keep good company within and around their communities as part of ensuring children in the communities do not engage in illegal activities that could ruin their education and life careers.
