Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been accused of sabotaging Deputy President William Ruto from accessing retired President Daniel Moi on Thursday.
Sources say Ruto was kept waiting at the guest house despite a prior appointment secured by a team of Rift Valley leaders led by Charles Keter.
And Senate Minority Leader Kipchumba Murokomen led a troop of leaders in blaming Senator Moi for Ruto's predicaments.
"As a chairman of Kalenjin MPs, I have time and again sought an appointment so we can go and visit Mzee. It is complicated . Those opportunities are given in bits like Panadol by his son," said Murkomen.
State House Director for Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi said. "The DP cannot go to such meetings without appointments. He was clearly short-changed by Gideon."
Similar claims were made online with Moi's critics accusing him of hijacking the visit despite having been privy to it.
But KANU Secretary General Nick Salat has come into the defense of Senator Moi, claiming that he was not aware of the visit.
"I don't think he was aware otherwise he would have organised a welcoming party befitting the DP," he said.
Tiaty MP William Kamket, another close ally of the Moi's said MPs who organised the meeting had not consulted the family.
A statement from the former president's communication team indicated that the visit coincided with the time Moi was going for physiotherapy.
