Baringo Senator and Kanu party leader Gideon Moi has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to back his presidential bid come 2022.
Speaking on Sunday in Baringo County, the Senator noted that Kanu had diligently supported the Jubilee administration since 2013 under which William Ruto has served as Deputy President.
Moi argued that it would be unfair for Ruto to dismiss his bid.
The Deputy President, however, has declared publicly that he will be vying for Presidency in 2022.
"I have supported the Jubilee government, Ruto being the Deputy President for two terms since 2013. It would be ungrateful of him to turn down my plea," the Star quoted Senator Moi.
"Ruto arudishe mkono kwangu, ama namna gani? (Ruto should return the favour)" he said.
He further maintained that Kanu will be backing President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election bid during the August polls.
Moi will be seeking re-election for the Baringo Senatorial seat during this year's general election.
