Baringo Senator Gideon Moi hit back at Deputy President William Ruto and his brigade after coming under fire over his alleged plot to divide the Kalenjin nation votes.
He warned those intent on dragging the name of his father through the mud to stop it and instead engage him directly.
Although he never mentioned William Ruto's name directly, it was clear to all and sundry to whom his carefully-calibrated words were aimed at.
''Stop dragging the name of my father into politics. Stop abusing my father and instead abuse me. There's a way of raising your concerns without being abusive. People should sell their manifestos and stop calling Gideon's name. There are those who make promises and never keep their word. At the end of the day, Kenyans will decide,'' a curiously cool Gideon Moi said.
Gideon Moi was speaking during the funeral of the late Baringo South legislator Grace Kipchoim who was laid to rest on Saturday.
The snub of William Ruto by former president Daniel arap Moi has triggered a huge backlash from pro-Ruto politicians who accused Gideon of having a hand in the snub.
Gideon Moi is seen as a serious threat to Ruto's stranglehold on the vote-rich Rift Valley region.
