Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has weighed in on the NCPB maize scandal that the country has been reeling from.
In a statement shared with newsrooms, Gideon Moi revealed that cartels had taken over operations at the National Cereals and Produce Board.
The senator threw the gauntlet to President Uhuru Kenyatta and called on him to take stern action on those involved in the scandals.
''Now that reports confirming our fears have been tabled in parliamentary committees, I am calling on His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta to crack the whip on all those who are culpable. This is the only way that can restore faith to the common Kenyan that the President is serious in the fight against corruption which threatens to derail his Big Four agenda and leave a lasting legacy at the end of his term.'' According to a mainstream local station, the senator revealed that officials at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) were colluding with some farmers in underhand deals that has seen deserving farmers left out of payment.
He also called on deserving farmers who have not been paid to be paid with immediate effect and investigations launched into the scandal.
Jubilee politicians have supported Gideon Moi's call for the president to take charge of the investigations.
