Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has termed Raila Odinga a 'true hero' whose legacy will be remembered in years to come.

Throughout his infantry stages in politics, Raila was a chief critic of Gideon's father, Daniel Moi, whose rule lasted for over two decades.

And in a rare show of mature politics, Moi also wished Raila to live for many years to come, as he celebrated his 73rd birthday.

"It is difficult to find such a leader with humility and love for his people. His contributions in this country cannot go unmentioned.

"I wish him many more years on earth. He is compassionate and open to ideas and above all, a mentor to many," he wrote on his Facebook.

Despite coming from ideologically divergent political families, the two have however never differed in public.

Moments before August elections, Moi had hinted backing Raila's bid only to change his mind in favour of Uhuru Kenyatta.
