Despite political rivalry between Baringo senator Gideon Moi and Deputy President William Ruto being witnessed, Moi has an alternative view.

The Kanu chairman told a local newspaper that the two have no differences and were good friends.

He said he would likely support Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions, if his party decides so.

"The DP and I have never crossed path,'' Moi said, adding that the two love one another as brothers.

Rivalry between the two Rift Valley region politicians was witnessed during the burial ceremony of the former Kanu era Nominated MP Mark Too in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where Ruto hails from.

Moi told Ruto not to be 'used' by president Uhuru Kenyatta to seek votes for his re-election in Rift Valley, but visit the region by himself and talk to the people.

The two also clashed verbally, in Kalenjin dialect.

They have been seen as rivals in the region since it is perceived that the son to former president Daniel Arap Moi could seek presidency in 2022, rivaling Ruto.

Gideon has since declared his (party's) support for Uhuru's re-election in August.
