Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has broken his silence over whether he will contest for the presidency or not.
The son to former President Daniel arap Moi at the same time took a swipe at Deputy President Willian Ruto reminding him to stop insulting other leaders.
"I have never declared interest in gunning for State House," Mr Moi said on Saturday in a short statement posted on his official Facebook page.
"When the time comes for me to do that, I will declare in a political gathering not in any other venue. In the meantime, DP Ruto should continue with his work while I do mine."
He said Ruto should focus at doing what he is mandated to do as deputy president.
The senator has constantly accused Ruto of undermining elected leaders in the expansive and vote rich Rift Valley.
"I demand respect, I cannot be expected to offer respect if I am not getting any," he said.
"Don’t think that by insulting others you will achieve unity among Kalenjin leaders and Kenyans at large. I am one of those championing unity and dialogue but if hurling insults at each other is part of the deal, I will not be part of it."
Political analysts argue that Moi posses a threat to the political grip that Ruto enjoys in Rift Valley.
He is also seen as possible replacement to the DP in case President Uhuru Kenyatta drops Ruto as his running in the 2017 general election.
The senator has teamed up with Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto in rejecting a proposal that Kanu, a Jubilee party affiliate dissolves to join Jubilee Party.
Jubilee Party is the vehicle President Kenyatta intends to ride on in defending his seat in the August 2017 polls.
Moi said he will not be cowed to stop speaking about the depreciating living standards among Kenyans.
"I have only been speaking out against the falling maize prices, tea prices, Mau Forest resettlement and the vicious cattle rustling and banditry in the North Rift," he added.
