Former President Daniel Moi who had been hospitalized at an Israeli hospital in Tel Aviv has been discharged putting to an end social media speculations over his health.
The former head of state's son and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi took time after the 93-year-old Moi was released from the hospital to laud Kenyans who prayed for the former commander in chief from the time he was taken ill.
Moi was flown out of the country to Ichilov Hospital for specialized treatment in Israel after falling ill at his Kabarak home in Nakuru County on Sunday.
"I wish to sincerely thank all Kenyans for the prayers, messages of solidarity, love and support," Senator Moi said on his official Facebook page.
"Your prayers worked, Mzee was treated and discharged. I wish to assure everyone that former President Moi is doing well and we are thankful to God for that."
When he was discharged from hospital on Thursday, a press statement sent to newsrooms from his Kabarak home said he would fly back home after visiting historical sites in Jerusalem.
From the time he left the political limelight after the historic 2002 general elections that ended his 24-hour rule, the former President has maintained a quiet life, mostly operating at his rural home in Kabarak.
