Nakuru East Member of Parliament David Gikaria has poked holes into the Nakuru county government's notice issuance to county house residents with rent arrears.Speaking while issuing Constituency Development Fund (CDF) bursary forms at St Theresa's Primary School in Kivumbini ward, Nakuru East constituency on Wednesday, Gikaria termed the move as unrealistic vowing to oppose any attempts to chase out the residents.He said that despite himself and Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui hailing from the same political formation, he must and will correct him on the unhealthy step."Myself and Governor Kinyanjui have always had same views and opinions but I fully disagree with him on this one. We might both have been elected on a Jubilee ticket but I will not sit and watch him harass residents," he said.He added that with many of the residents having occupied the houses for many years, the county should now be considering handing over the over 2700 units to them."There are only two options on the table in this issue; the county government either tells us for how many years the residents have to pay rent to be officially recognized as owners or sell the houses to them," he added.Kinyanjui's team has since embarked on a campaign to issue notices to the residents of Kaloleni, Kivumbini, Shauri Yako, Machanga, Flamingo and Lumumba estates.The second term lawmaker who was flanged by Kivumbini and Flamingo Members of County Assembly Wilbur Onyango and Eddy Kiragu respectively, also stressed on the need for parents to ensure maximum school attendance for their children terming it as the best gift they can offer to the younger generation."Education is the only remaining gift we can offer our children. Let's ensure that they go to school and get it," he said.
