Residents of Kaloleni Estate in Nakuru have thanked Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria for honouring his word by ensuring that water connection problem in the area was resolved.

The area residents were forced to go for almost a month without water due to a billing problem from the Nakuru Water and Sanitation Company (Nawasco) but after the MP intervened, all is well.

The residents a majority of whom are traders noted that the shortage made them incur unimaginable losses because without water, their businesses would not operate.

Gikaria who addressed the residents after they staged a peaceful demonstration had earlier promised to talk to Nawasco management and true to his word, the problem has been fixed.

“We thank our MP because he is proving to be a person who walks his talks, we are very happy to have him,” said Melisa Muthoni, a resident.

She accused Nawasco of taking advantage of a small problem to punish the whole area saying that the company had really affected their businesses.

“It was a real let down because water is everything, personally, I was forced to close down my food kiosk because the mkokoteni suppliers had started selling dirty water to us and with the cholera situation in Nakuru, I could not use such water,” she added.

A majority are full of praises to Gikaria, who took the personal initiative of holding a meeting with Nawasco’s Managing Director to have water back to taps in the area.
