Gikaria dismissed those opposed to the merger especially in the Rift Valley region terming them as time wasters.

"We have moved to a new political dispensation. Highly competitive politics can only exist where there are no more than three political parties.Gone are the days when political parties operated like they were personal property," said Gikaria.

The legislator further observed that the era of brief-case parties has also come to an end and said the merger of TNA and URP is a sign of the country’s political maturity.

At the same time Gikaria called for end to persistent wrangles in The National Alliance (TNA) party ‘s Nakuru branch.

He urged the warring factions to call for ceasefire and stop tainting the ruling party’s name at the grassroots level.

“It is unfortunate that leaders are busy engaging in wrangles instead of recruiting members at the grassroots level. TNA is short lived and the leaders should stop fights and prepare to join Jubilee Alliance party(JAP),” said Gikaria.

The legislator accused the three factions fighting over ownership of the party saying that, they were fighting over part of the Sh 89.3million political parties funding that TNA received in February last year.
