Speaking on Friday during the burial of a matatu driver that killed six passengers last week, the MP assured all the gilgil residents that bumps will be erected at the junction to Gilgil.

“This highway has killed most of our beloved ones and i am in talks with the Kenha to ensure that they erect some bumps so that the motor vehicles can reduce their speeds while approaching the Gilgil junction,” said Nderitu.

Nderitu further urged all the drivers to slow down whenever they reached Gilgil junction, since it was evident that the place was a black spot.

"We, together with all the churches in Gilgil Constituency are going to hold a big prayer day at the junction so that we can cleanse the place,” said Nderitu.

Gilgil Ward MCA Jane Wangui called upon the national government to erect bumps or put a bridge across the highway, to help pedestrians cross easily.

“The problem with this highway is that most of the cars are over speeding and yet we do not have bumps. We should at least have bumps to ensure that the cars reduce their speeds when they approach the junction. As the MP said, we are going to have a prayer day at the junction so that we can ask God to protect us,” added Wangui.
