Gilgil Member of Parliament Nderitu Mathenge wants the Nakuru County Government to repossess public land that has been grabbed by selfish people in the county.
Addressing journalists at Gilgil town on Monday, Nderitu alleged that land grabbing has barred implementation of public projects in the area.
He said that most public land earmarked for constructions and development has been grabbed.
“We are facing a crisis in Gilgil because most public land where we want to build schools or hospitals has been grabbed,” said Mathenge.
Nderitu pointed out that the sub county will lag behind if land grabbing is not dealt with.
He confirmed to have raised the complaints with the county government but no action has been taken.
The MP now wants the Ministry of Lands to step in and reposes public land from grabbers.
The Gilgil MP threatened to lead demonstrators if the county government fails to look at the issue in the next two weeks.
“I will lead my people to the streets to demand repossession of our land,” threatened Mathenge.
Late last year, the MP led residents in pulling down a wall on a public land that had been allegedly grabbed by a top politician in Gilgil town.
