Security officers in Likoni have arrested a 14 year-old-girl believed to be a member of the machete-wielding Watalia gang. The suspect, whose name is yet to be disclosed, was arrested by a special team of security personnel from Likoni police station in Vyemani.Confirming the Tuesday incident, Likoni police boss Willy Simba said the girl had several marks her hands, which pledge allegiance to the criminal gang.“We are holding the suspect, but it is shocking to find a school girl who has been recruited to join the gang. She had drawings on her hands pledging allegiance to the outlawed gang,” said Simba, as quoted by Baraka FM. The arrest comes a few weeks after police officers smoked 13 other gang members from their hideouts, Baraka FM reports.Residents have raised concern over the mushrooming of criminal gangs in the county including Kapenguria six, Young Thugs, Chafu gang, Watalia, Wakali Kwanza, Wakali Wao, Gaza and Spanish Spatter.
