Residents of Nyakeire Marani Kisii County have raised alarm following an incident whereby a girl aged 8 years has been sexually abused by her uncle several times.
The locals want the uncle identified as Omwoyo re-arrested and taken to court after he was arrested last year for defiling the minor.
The man is currently out of jail after he was granted bond.
“We want police officers to re-arrest the suspect who is well known in the area and he has been raping the minor even after he was freed on bond on a similar offense by a Kisii Court. The girl has made several attempts to flee from the home but the man has refused to allow her to leave the home,” said Peter Matoke one of the residents.
The girl’s aunt Jane Riendo said the girl has been reporting to her about the heinous act the old man has been doing to her but police officers from Marani have failed to act since she has reported the matter to police several times.
“I have reported the matter to police more than 3 times because the girl is an orphan who was left in the custody of his uncle but unfortunately the uncle has ended up mistreating the minor. Police officers have until Monday to re-arrest the man failure to which I will move to the children’s office,” said the aunt.
