A 15-year-old girl is fighting for her life at a Kisii hospital after she consumed poison following a quarrel with her father in Nyantira, Nyacheki Kisii County.
Neighbors said the girl’s father threatened to send her away from their home after she failed to give him a chain he asked to lock their dog.
"The man is married to two wives and he never supports the girl’s family. We suspect this may be the reason as to why the girl decided to consume poison because the man and his second wife have been mistreating the first wife and her children,” said a neighbor who requested for anonymity.
Residents destroyed the house belonging to the second wife blaming her for not allowing the man to support the other family.
The locals said if the girl will die, the man and his second wife will not be allowed to live in the village.
