The girl, Hannah Wambui Mwai, sat for her Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE) last year and scored 396 marks.

Mwai says that her only sister whom they live together cannot afford to raise the required Sh 50,000 in school fees.

"I was studying at EERC Primary School. I have received an admission letter to AIC Sugoi Girls Secondary School," said the 14-year-old at their Langas home on Thursday.

Mwai says that she has been washing clothes for weeks now after it dawned on her that the school fees required was way far beyond what her sister can afford.

"I have managed to save Sh 2,000 so far and my dream is to be an accountant," she said.

The girl's parents are both dead and she is counting on well-wishers to achieve her life goals.

"I am hopeful that those who hear and read my story will come to my rescue," she said.
