Alice Achieng's essay caught the eye of Kenya Alliance for Advancement of Children (KAACR), which seeks to reduce risks caused by disasters.

The organisation donated fire extinguishers to the school, in an event that was presided over by Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi, who praised the school's performance.

"We are proud as stakeholders that the school excels both academically and in extra curricular activities,” said Mwinyi.

The MP further urged residents to take their children to school, and called on the students to work hard in a bid to realise their dreams.

"Lets embrace education as hard work pays," he added.

The MP, teachers and parents thanked KAACR for its charitable work and their continued support.
