Residents in Garissa County want action to be taken against the perpetrator who managed to access the school and rape the girls.

Kilimani OCPD Michael Muchiri who confirmed the incident said investigations are ongoing and that no one has been arrested.

“This is an active investigation. The school administration is cooperating with the police to establish the depth of the matter at hand. Detectives are following up on important leads,” said Mr Muchiri as quoted by Daily Nation.

Residents in Garissa county have been shocked by the incident and demand protection for students in schools.

“The person who committed the heinous act should be arrested and prosecuted. How can an outsider enter into a school and rape students? Action needs to be taken,” said Mr Hameed Rashid.

“Schools should be well protected to prevent such incidents from happening. Action needs to be taken against the school management for negligence,” said Mr Mohamud Yusuf.

“As a parent, this is unacceptable. When my child is in school, her security should be guaranteed and the education ministry needs to do something,” said Ms Khadija Hussein.

“The police should investigate this matter and arrest all those involved. Are our schools safer to leave our children there?” questioned Mr Abdul Hakim.
