More that 350 girls who were rescued from early marriages and Female Genital Mutilation, FGM, by Samburu Girls Foundation will be beneficiaries of government aid.
The government is expected to help them during the holidays.
The aid includes foods, sanitary towels and books.
During the International Day of Girl Child celebrations at Loosuk town on Wednesday, Public Service, Youth and Gender s Cecily Kariuki said the donation is meant to improve the lives of marginalized girls.
Kariuki said FGM is an outdated practice and asked locals administrators to be more vigilant and arrest any parent allowing a girl child to undergo the cut.
"Chiefs and their assistant chiefs must be alert to arrest anyone engaging in the illegal practice. Parents allowing girls to undergo the cut should know their days are numbered," she said.
