Martin Kamotho alias 'Githeri Man' has received the prestigious Head of State Commendation, Civilian Division, during Kenya's 54th Jamuhuri Day today.
The commendation was awarded alongside other Orders, decorations and medals by the president at Kasarani Stadium.
Kamotho shot into public limetight after he was spotted absentmindedly eating his githeri meal while queuing to cast his vote on August 8.
His photo was later to take social media by storm under
the hashtag #GitheriMan.
He was later hosted at several media stations in what marked a turn in his second leaf of life.
The presidential medals are normally awarded to people in recognition of their outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the country in different capacities and responsibilities.
