Kiambu County Deputy Governor Gerald Githinji has said that the county government is advocating for youth empowerment to ensure young people engage in meaningful activities.
The deputy governor said the youth have a lot of energy which should be utilised to prevent them from engaging in drugs and other illegal activities.
Speaking on Tuesday in Thika Town during a consultative meeting with a section of youth, Githinji encouraged youth with common interests to form groups and register them with the government so as to benefit from government funds and tenders.
The deputy governor hailed youth from Thika Town and Hospital Ward for forming groups and engaging in income generating activities.
Hospital Ward Member of County Assembly Mr Mwangi Wamwangi said that under the leadership of Governor Kabogo and his deputy Githinji, many projects in the county had been initiated, adding that they both deserve a second term the office.
Githinji donated Sh50,000 to a youth group in Hospital ward.
