Githirioni Location Senior Chief Joseph Gitau has retired from provincial administration after serving for a period of 33 years.
Speaking at Nyamweru High School in Githirioni Location, Lari sub-county where he announced his retirement on Wednesday, Gitau said that he had served the area with all his dedication and thanked the residents for their support.
“I am retiring from public service after serving for a cool period of 33 years,” said Gitau.
He said that the residents’ cooperation was good as it made it possible for him to accomplish many of the tasks and projects in the area.
“Many of the tasks like elimination of the drug abuse and insecurity were made possible due to better cooperation among the residents,” said Gitau.
Lari deputy commissioner Bernard Kinyua thanked the retired administrator and called for more cooperation with the in-coming chief.
Community Policing Chairperson Peter Kiugu hailed the retired chief for spearheading the efforts of promoting security.
“The security situation in Githirioni has improved due to Gitau's effort. We should work on maintaining this momentum,” said Kiugu.
The residents who were present at the event were also thankful to the chief for serving them well during his tenure.
