Anti-corruption campaigner John Githongo has criticised President Uhuru Kenyatta of passing the buck in the fight against corruption.
According to Githongo, the country does not need State House summits to fight corruption.
Speaking to the Standard newspaper on Wednesday, Githongo said it was inappropriate to waste public resources to hold summits and carry out bench-markings whereas the vice can be controlled through political will.
This comes after Githongo skipped the State House summit citing lack of seriousness from the president to fight corruption.
"The president is not serious in the fight against corruption. There is no need to converge at State House fight corruption in the country. This is an act of public relations stunt from the president and as such, he is not serious in the war against graft," said Githongo.
The anti-corruption campaigner also clarified information that he had been invited to the summit.
According to Githongo, he never received any communication welcoming him to the summit.
Githongo believes the whole summit was choreographed to ensure that the country saw there was action being taken to fight the vice that has of late gripped the Jubilee government.
