Siaya Senator James Orengo sensationally claims Attorney General Githu Muigai is legally 'bankrupt' and that should go back to school of law.

Earlier this week, Muigai sparked a controversial debate among legal scholars when he insisted that Raila Odinga will be charged with treason should he take presidential oath.

"Such moves attracts treason charges whose penalty is usually death," he told reporters in a press conference.

But at an interview with NASA TV on Thursday, Orengo dismissed treason charges adding that under the current law, it will be difficult to charge a civilian.

Also, Orengo accused Muigai of interpreting the law to a manner that suits his interests and that of Jubilee administration.

"Githu Muigai is legally bankrupt and should go back to law school. He doesn't seem to understand the current law as it is.

"It is difficult to charge someone with treason whether using the colonial penal code or under the current law. Such charges are difficult to prove and are unsupported by the law," he said.

Such criticism on the government legal adviser have been launched by many legal scholars among them Makau Mutua who also accuses Muigal of partial interpretation of the law.

Already, opposition leader Raila Odinga maintains that he will go ahead with inauguration plans adding that he will only cancel them if Uhuru reaches him in person.
