Attorney-General Githu Muigai has once again warned Nasa leader Raila Odinga over his swearing-in plans.

Speaking on Monday, the AG said Odinga will face a death penalty he pushes on with his swearing in as the ‘peoples’ president’.

“Government institutions will do what they are mandated to do if and when the time is right,” Prof Muigai told journalists during the launch of the 2017-2022 Legal Aid National Action Plan in Nairobi.

His warning comes a day after Odinga insisted that no one will stop him from his swearing-in plans and that he must ‘lift the bible’

He further accused the opposition lawyers of misleading the Opposition leader to take the illegal oath.

However, the NASA lawyers’ team led by Siaya SSenator James Orengo have insisted that it is not easy to prove treason in the current set-up of the laws of the country.

“Treason is not an easy offense to prove. Kenya’s law of treason is an exemplification of how things were when England was an absolute monarchy,” Mr. Orengo said.

The opposition shelved their plans to swear in Odinga, which were scheduled for December 12th, with the organizing team saying they will embark on the plan once again.

Co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka is expected in the country today, Tuesday, after which they will hold consultative meetings on the way forward.3
