Attorney General Dr. Githu Muigai on Thursday made his first public appearance since his shock resignation on Tuesday.Reports indicate that Muigai's resigned after relationship with State House worsened.Judge Paul Kihara Kariuki is set to replace him.

On Thursday, Dr. Muigai held a press briefing with Director General from the government of Switzerland, Roberto Belzeretti.Muigai said that the government will continue to provide mutual assistance in criminal investigations, prosecutions, and judicial proceedings in criminal matters."We are signing with other countries a mutual legal assistance framework like the one we have executed with you and we have received a very enthusiastic response from several other countries as you are aware that the document we shall initialise today is a three-way agreement between the Republic of Kenya, you and the United Kingdom,” he said.“Very important milestone in our cooperation that demonstrates our shared belief by our governments and those of the United Kingdom and Jersey that a framework for a return of assets from corruption can be effective, “said Muigai.After the presser, Muigai is said to have left the room without addressing the press.
