Githunguri Dairy Farmers Community Sacco which is the largest dairy farmers Sacco in Kiambu County has announced its plans to expand its services to the rest of the country.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday Joseph Kiiru who is the chairman of the Sacco said that the Sacco was in the process of rebranding itself and opening branches in other counties with the hope of becoming a bank soon.
"Since the Sacco have increased its membership, we sat down as the management decided that it was very vital if go ahead and have a national outlook," Kiiru said.
Kiiru who was speaking while at his office in Githunguri just 3 days after their Annual General Meeting which was held Githunguri stadium said that the Sacco has more than 16,000 members.
"The Sacco has been in operation for 12 years now and we want to go nationwide. By the end of the year 2014, members of the Sa had deposited more than Sh.527 Million with the total assets of Sh.689 Million. The share capital by then was Sh.68 Million," Kiiru said.
The Chairman of the Sacco went ahead and told the press that the members were given dividends of the share capitals of 9.1% together with shares of 3.55%.
"We are urging all our members to be very supportive and also whenever possible to help us when we are going national," Kiiru said.
