Speaking on Saturday in Kibichoi Location, Komothai Ward in Githunguri Constituency during a meeting to discuss the challenges facing women, Chairperson Wanjiku urged women to tirelessly fight poverty through engaging in constructive activities.

“Kibichoi women should be in forefront in addressing the challenges affecting them especially reduction of poverty,” said Wanjiku.

Wanjiku said that in the current social-political-economic situation, women should strive to prove that they can tackle some of the social challenges facing them without entirely depending on their husbands.

“Days are gone when women were regarded as house wives since women too can make a positive change in society,” said Wanjiku adding that women should cultivate the culture of saving if their dreams are to materialise.

Wanjiku however urged women to only join legally registered groups to avoid being fleeced by rogue persons.

“Women should ascertain the legality of groups before saving with them to avoid being coned, since cases of people loosing money they save with groups which are not registered have risen of late,” advised Wanjiku.

She further urged women to compete for both public and private positions as they have capability to do so and to use the positions to improve the standard of living among womenfolks.
