Ruiru sub-county administrator Mohammed Abdi has promised to address the challenge of uncollected garbage at Githurai  45 .

Speaking at Ruiru Town, Abdi acknowledged the uncollected garbage and said that the Kiambu county government has put in place measures to arrest the situation.

His announcement comes in the wake of a public out cry over the one-month uncollected garbage at Githurai 45.

The traders accused the county government for failure to collect the garbage inspite of paying taxes.

"We have being paying taxes but the service offered in return are wanting," said John Mugo, a trader at Githurai.

The residents say the stench from the garbage is posing a health crisis and called on the county government  to move with speed to avert the looming crisis.

"Most residents have been complaining  of headaches, chest pains and vomiting and we fear that the situation may worsen," added Mugo.

The land lords further expressed their concern over the garbage saying a number of tenants have moved because of the dumpsite.

"We are loosing tenants day after day and we may be left with empty houses if this matter is not resolved," said Gerald Mwangi, a landlord in the area.
