President Uhuru Kenyatta today assured that he will devote all his energy to improving the lives of Kenyans in his second term in office.
Speaking today when he stopped at Githurai Kimbo in Kiambu County to acknowledge greetings from hundreds of enthusiastic residents, President Kenyatta said he will ensure that priority projects that will transform the lives of Kenyans are not delayed.
For Githurai Kimbo and the adjacent areas, President Kenyatta singled out rehabilitation of roads, construction of a market and provision of clean water as some of the projects that will be addressed first.
“We have promised to rehabilitate this road, to construct a market and ensure you have a steady supply of clean water – and this is a promise we intend to fulfil,” President Kenyatta told the jubilant residents.
The President was on his way back to Nairobi after attending the funeral of the late Mrs Charity Gathoni Muigai Kenyatta who was buried at her farm in Githurai Kimbo. The late Mama Charity Gathoni was a relative to the President.
President Kenyatta said he would engage Governors Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu) and Mike Mbuvi Sonko (Nairobi) to ensure Githurai gets a modern market, water and roads.
“We will ensure adequate resources are allocated to transform this area for the benefit of all Kenyans living here,” the President said.
First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and other close family members attended the funeral service and burial of the late Mama Charity Gathoni.
