The concerned residents lamented that the youth, women and people living with disability who benefit from national government tenders are derived from urban areas where information on the advertisement of such is timely and accessible. The decried that the area residents get to receive the information days after the tenders closure.

Gituamba ward is a location that boarders Kiambu county and Murang’a county; situated near Aberdare forest. The location happens to be situated at the far end corner of Gatundu North with river Chania serving as Murang’a and Kiambu’s boarder line.

The location prides in sufficient tea and livestock farming. However, speaking on Monday, Ann Wanjira, a resident of Gatunguru within the ward said that the only source of government information is through website which most residents are illiterate about.

John Njoroge, a young tea farmer observed that an information resource centre in the ward would help many ambitious residents to access tendering information as they seek vacant opportunities to serve the national government.

“Many of us miss the national government youth fund because we make late applications not because we are needy but because the information of such openings is ever late. A resource information centre will not only inform us but will also equip us with digital access to government tenders,” said Njoroge.

Martin Ndirangu, a livestock farmer in Kanyoni said that the resource centre will empower more youths academically, reducing to zero any illiteracy levels among the inhabitants of Gituamba ward.

Janet Kariuki, a respected businesswoman in Gituamba town said that such an initiative in Gituamba ward should also be an initiative for the devolved government through its education department.
